APES110 (IESBA) - Audit Independence Quiz (2023)
A quiz to check your ‘knowledge in relation to the audit independence provisions outlined in the APES110 Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants (also found in the IESBA Code)’ has been released by KPMG Risk Management unit and can be accessed here. More information here

VIC Small Business Commissioner - Preparing for end of lease – new guidance for retail tenants
The Victorian Small Business Commission (VSBC) has developed new guidance to help retail tenants prepare for the end of their lease. More information here

Accountant‘s Letters: To-do or not-to-do?
The Institute of Public Accountants, Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand, and CPA Australia have teamed up to develop the "Accountant‘s Letter Toolkit" and to also host a webinar with Ignition on Thursday 10 August 2023 at 12:00pm. More information here

ATO reminder to property owners this tax time
ATO has issued a reminder to rental property owners and their tax agents to take care when lodging their tax return. More information here

Aggregated turnover and connected entities
The ATO has issued a Taxation Determination to provide guidance on two specific issues that have emerged from the ATO’s administration of the aggregated turnover test. More information here

Jail for GST fraud; agent registration terminated
ATO has advised that an individual has been sentenced re fraudulent GST refunds, in a separate matter, a tax agent has had his registration terminated after lodging false BASs. More information here

Treasury Laws Amendment No 3 Bill passed
Bill to refine the education and qualification framework for financial advisers has passed without amendment. More information here

Financial Accountability Regime Bills pass
Bills to create a new accountability regime for the banking, insurance, and super industries has passed Parliament. More information here
